In recent days, England forward Marcus Rashford has found himself in the spotlight due to his actions at nightspots in Belfast.
Rashford later fell ill and was unable to attend United training on Friday, having travelled from Northern Ireland to Manchester.
He was absent from Sunday’s FA Cup victory against Newport.
Ten Hag declined to comment on Rashford’s situation during his press conference ahead of his team’s upcoming Premier League match against Wolves on Thursday.
When questioned about his approach to player discipline, he responded, “In football, discipline is crucial both on and off the pitch.”
“Every player and professional understands the importance of meeting the necessary requirements.”
Reports about Rashford’s conduct during his evenings out have cast a negative light on the 26-year-old.
Rashford has faced reprimands from Ten Hag three times in the past 13 months due to off-field issues.
He was excluded from last season’s game at Wolves due to oversleeping and failing to attend a team meeting. He later expressed regret to Ten Hag for attending a pre-planned birthday celebration in October, shortly after United’s disappointing 3-0 loss to Manchester City at home.
Ten Hag dismissed any suggestion that Rashford’s repeated transgressions were a sign of disrespect towards him.
“It’s unrelated to that, but as I mentioned, let’s shift our attention to the game and move forward,” he stated. “Our main priority should be achieving victory in football matches.”
“He has acknowledged accountability and as for the rest, it’s an internal affair.” It’s a done deal.
Rashford is set to join United’s squad for the upcoming match against Wolves. Ten Hag is eager for the forward to maintain his impressive performance, having scored two goals and provided an assist in his last two Premier League games.
“There is a growing connection forming between Marcus and Rasmus Hojlund and we aim to nurture that relationship,” he stated.
