Elmo reacts to the Social Media Outburst of Anger

How is everyone faring? The response, it appears, is less than satisfactory.

When Elmo, the Muppet, innocently reached out to people on X (formerly Twitter), a wave of responses flooded in, filled with grief and despair.

The Sesame Street character has now responded, expressing his gratitude for the question and sharing the hashtag “#EmotionalWellBeing”.

US President Joe Biden concurred, stating: “Our friend Elmo is correct: We must support one another.”

The story started with a simple inquiry, asked by the beloved children’s TV personality on Monday morning.

“Elmo wanted to say hello!” “How is everyone doing?” he inquired on X.

Cue a collective breakdown by the internet.

“Elmo I’m suffering from existential dread over here,” wrote one user.

“Every morning, I cannot wait to go back to sleep. Every Monday, I cannot wait for Friday to come. Every single day and every single week for life,” another wrote.

“The world is burning around us, Elmo,” said YouTuber Steven McInerney.

Celebrities like actress Rachel Zegler also chimed in, expressing her restraint in sharing her sadness with Elmo.

Perhaps the timing of Elmo’s question was to blame.

It was bound to have a less than favourable outcome, to pose such a query on a Monday morning in January, at the conclusion of a seemingly interminable month.

However, the Muppet with red hair and fur remained unfazed by the burden of others’ problems.

Talking to X on Tuesday night, he exclaimed: “Wow! Elmo is pleased he inquired! Elmo discovered the significance of inquiring about a friend’s well-being. Elmo will check in again soon, friends! Elmo adores you. #EmotionalWellBeing.”

Additional Sesame Street characters also voiced their support for their friend.

The Cookie Monster wrote: “I’m here to have a conversation whenever you want. I will also provide cookies. #EmotionalWellBeing”

Ernie’s closest companion, Bert, kindly offered his support, assuring him that he would be there whenever he needed someone to rely on. I’ll prepare a comforting cup of tea for both of us.

Sesame Street also joined the conversation, providing a link to mental health resources on its official X account.

And Elmo’s efforts to support people’s emotional wellbeing were praised by President Biden himself, who said he agreed with the puppet.

“I understand the challenges of facing difficult times and striving for brighter days,” the president wrote on X.

“It’s important for us to support one another, extend a helping hand to those around us, and most importantly, reach out for assistance when we require it.”

“Despite the challenges, you are never without support.”
