Meghan Markle, Prince Harry’s Archewell Foundation is ‘delinquent,’ forbidden from soliciting or spending funds

The Archewell Foundation, founded by Meghan Markle and Prince Harry, is having serious administrative issues.

According to papers obtained by MicstagesUK Magazine, the charity has been branded “delinquent” by the California Registry of Charities and Fundraisers for “failing to submit required annual report(s) and/or renewal fees.”

According to the paper, “An organisation that is listed as delinquent is not in good standing and is prohibited from engaging in conduct that requires registration, such as soliciting or disbursing charitable funds.” The organisation may also face sanctions and have its registration suspended or revoked by the Registry.

“Once you submit the delinquent record(s), you will be notified of the amount of any late fees that are owed,” it keeps going.

Representatives for Archewell and California Attorney General Rob Bonta, who approved the notification, did not immediately reply to Fox News Digital’s request for comment.

According to a source, the charity filed on time, but a cheque was never received, and Archewell only became aware of the problem after the notification was issued. According to their sources, a replacement cheque has been received, and the issue is expected to be fixed and reflected in the state’s records within the next seven working days.

The letter, delivered on May 3 by the attorney general through the California Department of Justice, states the foundation’s address in Beverly Hills and indicates that its last renewal was completed on February 2, 2023.

The Archewell Foundation was originally registered with the California Registry of Charities and Fundraisers in July 2021, along with a description of the organization’s main activities.

According to the document, “The Archewell Foundation is an impact-driven nonprofit founded by the Duke and Duchess of Sussex.” The Archewell Foundation’s fundamental mission is to uplift and unite communities, both local and global, online and offline, one act of compassion at a time.”

“The Archewell Foundation believes that compassion is the defining cultural force of the twenty-first century, and through its work, it supports a growing community of partner organisations that are driving systematic cultural change. The Archewell Foundation listens to people and their communities, assists them in telling their stories, puts real action behind its words, and highlights a new generation of leadership.

It also demonstrates that the organisation was granted IRS tax-exempt status at the time, which allowed payments to be tax-deductible.

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle were invited to Nigeria by the country’s chief of defence staff, the highest-ranking military officer. While there, they promoted mental health for soldiers and, according to People, highlighted the Invictus Games, which Nigeria will compete in for the first time in 2023.

The charity troubles follow a claimed snub by Harry’s father, King Charles III, who placed a title previously associated with Prince Harry on his brother, Prince William.

On Monday, the king elevated William to the rank of colonel in chief of the Army Air Corps, making him head of Prince Harry’s previous unit. Before Prince Harry stepped aside from his royal duties, many expected the title would be awarded to the Duke of Sussex as a result of his service with the Army Air Corps in Afghanistan.

The ceremony took place days after a spokeswoman revealed that Prince Harry will not meet with King Charles while in London due to the king’s busy schedule.
