Formula 1 has declined the bid from the American Andretti team to join the sport in the coming years.
However, they have indicated the possibility of reconsideration in 2028.
Andretti’s entry had received approval from the governing body, the FIA. However, commercial rights holders F1 expressed their concerns about the proposal for entry in 2025 or 2026, feeling that it was lacking.
F1 conducted an analysis involving key stakeholders and concluded that adding an 11th team would not provide any significant value.
F1 is sceptical about the applicant’s ability to be a strong competitor.
