China: A school Dormitory Fire in Henan Province Claimed 13 Lives

Thirteen individuals tragically lost their lives in a devastating fire that occurred in a school dormitory in central China, as reported by the country’s Xinhua state news agency.

A tragic incident occurred on Friday night at a school for young children in Yanshanpu village, Henan province.

According to China Daily, the school provides education for young children in nursery and primary grades.

An investigation is currently underway after the manager of a school near Nanyang city was detained.

Another individual is currently receiving medical care in a hospital and their condition is stable.

Official channels have not provided any additional information regarding the identities of the deceased or the cause of the fire. The fire was put out within an hour of firefighters being notified, according to Xinhua.

Tragic fires in China are unfortunately frequent as a result of inadequate enforcement of building and safety regulations.

In November, a tragic incident occurred when a devastating fire engulfed an office building in Luliang City, Shanxi province, resulting in the loss of 26 lives.

Last April, a tragic incident occurred in Beijing where a hospital fire resulted in the loss of numerous lives, primarily patients. This unfortunate event prompted authorities to conduct an investigation, leading to the detention of 12 individuals for questioning.

Disturbing footage of the fire depicted individuals desperately manoeuvring out of windows onto air conditioning units in order to evade the engulfing flames.
