At People’s Choice Awards, Jeremy Renner received a standing ovation

Jeremy Renner was warmly welcomed at the People’s Choice Awards, over a year following a serious snow plough incident.

Last January, the Hawkeye actor suffered over 30 fractures when he was unintentionally hit by his own snow plough.

Stepping onto the stage at Sunday’s event, Renner addressed the audience: “I must admit, it’s great to be back.”

Tom Hiddleston, a fellow Marvel star, was in the audience and stood up to applaud Renner.

“The fans are amazing, I must say,” Renner said, clearly touched by the crowd’s response.

“This year has been quite a journey, and I’m thrilled to be here with all of you, the fans.” You guys are amazing.”

The actor awarded Billie Eilish for her performance in the comedy horror show Swarm.

Introducing Renner, the People’s Choice Awards host Simu Liu—who plays Shang-Chi—said, “I could not be more excited to bring out our first presenter.” Liu is another Marvel star.

“Here tonight, my fellow Marvel man, we are ecstatic to have him back… In honour of Jeremy Renner, please scream as loud as you can.

Earlier this month, Renner discussed his recovery with Entertainment Tonight, mentioning that he was “probably doing 90 percent of all the things I needed to be doing”.

He mentioned that the recovery is moving in one direction only. My focus is on health and wellness for the rest of my life. Recovery will be a lifelong journey that I am eager to embrace.

“There’s always room for improvement, strength, happiness, and health, and that’s what I’m excited about.”
