Drone Video Shows Gaza Destruction after 100 Days of War

The civilian casualties resulting from the Israeli bombardment that followed the Hamas attacks have been significant. According to the health ministry run by Hamas, over 23,000 lives have been lost, with a significant number being women and children. There are reports of a significant number of casualties trapped under debris.
Regulation of the technology industry is becoming more prevalent globally. Last month, European Union officials reached a provisional agreement on the world’s first comprehensive laws to regulate the use of AI.

The European Parliament is set to vote on the AI Act proposals in the coming months, with the potential for legislation to be implemented by 2025 at the earliest.

The US, UK, and China have not yet released their own AI guidelines.

As events unfolded in the south on Saturday 7 October, Israel’s defence establishment swiftly took action. The Israeli military launched an extensive bombing campaign in Gaza with the aim of dismantling Hamas and its support system.

A significant portion of the region, spanning from Gaza city in the north to Khan Younis in the south, has been devastated.

Israel claims that Hamas has suffered significant setbacks and is now largely ineffective as a cohesive unit in northern Gaza, as per the Israeli military.

However, the Israeli bombardment has resulted in a significant loss of civilian lives.

According to Palestinian officials, a significant portion of Gaza’s population has been forced to leave their homes. Despite the increased aid reaching Gaza, the UN’s humanitarian chief has expressed strong concern over the current situation, describing it as “unbearable”.

Faten Abu Shahada requires regular kidney dialysis, which is one of the factors that compelled her and her family to relocate to the southern region. Faten and the kids now reside in a plastic tent in Khan Younis, with the constant presence of an Israeli drone overhead.

“Gaza has suffered extensive damage.” Faten laments the dire situation in Gaza, where hospitals and education have been completely wiped out. “The education of our children has been severely impacted, and the situation in Gaza is deeply concerning.”

Israel is facing mounting international pressure to contemplate a ceasefire or temporary halt in Gaza, given the immense toll on civilian lives.

Even the United States, Israel’s staunchest ally, has expressed concern to Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu about the high number of civilian casualties, despite consistently supporting Israel’s right to self-defense and preventing future attacks.

President Biden has expressed concern over Israel’s use of force, suggesting that it may be causing a decline in international support for the country.

Gideon Levy, a columnist for the Israeli newspaper Haaretz, has often voiced his criticism of Mr Netanyahu. I inquired about the potential resolution of this ongoing conflict, which has become Israel’s longest since 1948.

“The war in its current form will continue for as long as Americans permit Israel to do so,” Levy states.

He mentions that he believes it won’t be much longer. However, it’s important to consider what will happen after the war, as this aspect has not been thoroughly addressed.

“If Israel refuses to withdraw from Gaza, there will likely be opposition.” And if there is opposition, there will be consequences.

Amidst ongoing Israeli military operations in central and southern Gaza, it appears that Mr. Netanyahu has no immediate plans to bring an end to the conflict.

Israel insists that the fighting will only cease once Hamas has been fully defeated. The outlook for the immediate future in the region, especially for the thousands of civilians residing in dire conditions in Gaza, appears extremely grim.
