Tragic news has emerged from Nigeria’s Delta state, where beloved Nollywood actor Junior Pope Odonwodo, also known as Jnr Pope, lost his life in a devastating boat accident while filming a movie. Fellow actors are mourning the loss of their talented colleague.

The film star was previously reported to have survived the accident after doctors tried to revive him in a hospital.

“It’s unfortunate that our happiness didn’t last long.” Despite the efforts of two prominent hospitals, their attempts to save him were unsuccessful. We finally lost him,” Emeka Rollas Ejezie,

the president of the Actors Guild of Nigeria (AGN), posted on Facebook.

Footage circulating on social media captured the efforts of rescuers as they carefully transported the actor, who seemed to be unconscious, from the River Niger. The incident took place on Wednesday evening.

Prior to the incident, the 39-year-old actor had posted a video on his Instagram page, showcasing his journey to the movie set on a boat with four companions.

He voiced his worries about the absence of safety measures and hoped for a safe journey.

Junior Pope has an extensive filmography, having appeared in over 150 Nollywood films. He has gained recognition for his versatile performances, often portraying characters with a dark and edgy side. From criminals to villains, bodyguards to hitmen, he has showcased his talent in a range of roles.
