Spanish Police Confirm Killing Younes Abouyaaqoub The Van Driver In The Barcelona Terror Attack

Spanish police say they have shot and killed Younes Abouyaaqoub, the man identified as the driver in a deadly van attack in Barcelona last week.

Police shot Abouyaaqoub near Subirats, west of Barcelona, on Monday afternoon after being alerted to the presence of a suspicious man.

Authorities gave few immediate details of the incident, saying the suspect was wearing what seemed to be a suicide belt. A bomb disposal robot was dispatched to approach the man’s body after he was shot down, police said.

Abouyaaqoub had been the focus of an extensive international manhunt after authorities said he used a van to mow down pedestrians in Barcelona’s famous Las Ramblas promenade on Thursday, killing 13 people and injuring more than 120 others.

Police also said he stabbed a driver to death and hijacked his car on Thursday night in his getaway.

“The Catalan police have shot dead Younes Abouyaaqoub, driver of the van and direct perpetrator of the attack in Barcelona on Thursday causing the death of 14 people,” Carles Puigdemont, president of the Catalonia region, told reporters on Monday.

International probe still open

Al Jazeera’s Sonia Gallego, reporting from Barcelona, said that a female resident of Subirats had tipped off police, after spotting a man who was acting suspiciously.

As they approached the man in question, he reportedly lifted his shirt to show an explosive belt, prompting police to shoot him.

Earlier on Monday, authorities had said they now had evidence that Abouyaaqoub, 22, drove the van that ploughed down the Las Ramblas promenade, in an attack claimed by the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIL, also known as ISIS) group.

“He was the only person who was still at large and had been a prime person of suspect,” Al Jazeera’s Gallego said.

The other suspects in a cell of 12 people thought to be behind the attack have been arrested, shot by police or killed in an explosion at a house in Catalonia a day before Thursday’s van attack.

The attack in Barcelona was linked to another outburst of violence hours later in the resort down of Cambrils, further down the Mediterranean coastline from Barcelona.

A car crashed into passers-by there, and attackers reportedly got out to tried and stab people. Five suspects were shot dead, while a Spanish woman died in the attack, which was also claimed by ISIL.

Imam’s death confirmed

Following the confirmation of Abouyaaqoub’s death, Spanish police said that the operation into the Barcelona cell remained open, including at international level.

“Today the 12 names that we have always referred to are in the hands of the justice system, or sadly, as a result of their actions, have been killed,” Josep Lluis Trapero, Catalan police chief, told reporters, on Monday.

“But we have said that we were opening up the range of relations in the international field, and this will develop in the coming weeks,” he said, adding that the operation was not closed.

Trapero also confirmed that the imam believed to have been the ringleader of the cell had been killed in an accidental explosion at the suspects’ bomb factory.

Asked whether Abdelbaki Es Satty had died in the blast on Wednesday that precipitated the attacks, Trapero said: “It is confirmed,” adding “the remains of the imam were there”, in the house in Alcanar that exploded.

It Looks Like R.Kelly Is In The Clear, Again!!

#WeGotYourBack #WeGotItCovered #BreakingNews  #HipHopDxNews  #USA #EntertainmentNews #Music  #FultonCounty #RKelly #SexCultAllegations

FULTON COUNTY, GA – After R. Kelly was accused of holding women against their will in a sex cult last month, it looked like another crushing blow to the legendary R&B singer’s career. In wake of the controversial news, four of Kelly’s concerts were reportedly canceled due to poor ticket sales, which he vehemently denied.

Now that the proverbial dust has settled around the allegations and people have largely resumed focus on other matters, the Fulton County District Attorney Paul Howard has announced his office is not currently investigating Kelly, according to Atlanta’s FOX 5.

Fulton County commission chairman John Eaves, who is currently running for mayor of Atlanta, called a press conference on Friday (August 11) to demand an investigation into the situation. He alleged the investigators who were working the case had found new information that raised some concerns.

“I’m going to stress to the [Fulton County] district attorney that a full investigation be done, because I believe questions should be answered,” he said.

Ahead of the conference, he also released a statement to the media. “Today, I am asking District Attorney Paul Howard and his investigative officers and prosecutors to fully review the report of the Johns Creek Police and follow every lead — no matter where it leads, or who it implicates, and bring those persons to swift justice,” it read.

Despite his request, D.A. Howard revealed shortly after the conference that no criminal investigation into Kelly’s actions is being conducted at this time, but he will “examine the R. Kelly file to determine next steps.”

Buzzfeed broke the story in July and reported several young women were being held in some kind of sex cult by Kelly in Fulton County. Six women  were said to have been brainwashed and forbidden to contact anyone but Kelly unless they had his permission. One of the women, Jocelyn Savage, claimed she was fine after her parents called a press conference confirming the allegations and saying they haven’t been able to talk to their daughter.

Kelly responded to the allegations in a statement to FOX 5 Atlanta via his publicist. “Mr. Robert Kelly is both alarmed and disturbed by the recent revelations attributed to him,” the statement said. “Mr. Kelly unequivocally denies such accusations and will work diligently and forcibly to pursue his accusers and clear his name.”

In a video the 50-year-old singer posted on social media, he called the entire situation a “bunch of crap.”

“It’s your boy Kelz,” he said. “And I just wanted to let all of my fans out there know that despite all of the crap that y’all hearing. I will be coming to the East Coast to do my show. And believe me y’all. It’s a bunch of crap. Aight? I hope to see y’all there. I love y’all.”

With any legal troubles on the back burner, Kelly can turn his attention to his upcoming performance at the Wolf Creek Amphitheater in College Park on August 25. Live Nation, the company managing the tour, has said that the event will still go on as scheduled despite the call for its cancellation.

Solicitor General To Consider Sentencing Increases, Where There Is A Racial Element In Sexual Abuse Cases.

#WeGotYourBack #WeGotItCovered #BreakingNews  #BBCNews #Newcastle #UK #RaciallyAggravated #SexualAbuseCases #Newcastle #Rotherham #SolicitorGeneral #Bangladeshi #BritishPakistani #Iraq #India  #Iran #Turkish

Gangs who sexually abuse young girls should be given longer prison sentences where there is evidence of racism, the solicitor general has said.

Robert Buckland told the Telegraph that racism cut “all ways” and should be “front and centre” when it is part of grooming and sexual abuse cases.

On Wednesday, 17 men and one woman were convicted over abuse in Newcastle.

They were mainly British-born from Bangladeshi, Pakistani, Iraqi, Indian Iranian and Turkish communities.

In Newcastle, victims as young as 14 were plied with alcohol and drugs before being forced to have sex by a “cynical organisation”.

Over the course of four trials, 20 young women gave evidence covering a period from 2011 to 2014.

‘Racial hostility’

However, some politicians have questioned why their offences were not seen as being racially aggravated in the courts.

Mr Buckland said tougher prison sentences should be given when it was established that sexual abuse was racially aggravated.

“The law does not discriminate,” he said.

“When it talks about sentencing increases for racial aggravation it doesn’t cut one way, it cuts all ways.

“Where there is a racial element in sexual abuse cases the law is clear that courts can apply a sentencing uplift.”

The trials in Newcastle followed a number of similar cases – including in Rotherham and Oxford.

Mr Buckland expressed concern that fears of being accused of racism might have deterred the authorities from adopting a tougher approach.

“There has been an institutional reticence when it comes to Asian gangs that groom and abuse white girls,” he said.

“Some people have been more concerned about being labelled racist than dealing with child safeguarding.”

‘Work together’

Speaking on Wednesday, Home Secretary Amber Rudd said sexual predators were “not restricted to any single ethnic group, religion or community”.

She added: “I want to be absolutely clear that political and cultural sensitivities must never be allowed to get in the way of preventing and uncovering it.”

Labour’s Sarah Champion said the UK needed “to be upfront that the majority of the perpetrators have been British-Pakistani”.

The Rotherham MP called for the government to research why this is happening.

“The government aren’t researching what is going on,” she said. “Are these cultural issues? Is there some sort of message going out within the community?”

Ms Champion said the “far right” would attack her comments for “not doing enough” and the “floppy left” would call her racist.

“This isn’t racist, this is child protection,” said the MP for Rotherham, where at least 1,400 children were found to have been exploited between 1997 and 2013.

Martin Shkerli Found Guilty Of Fraud By Brooklyn Jury.

#WeGotYourBack #WeGotYouCovered #BreakingNews #EntertainmentNews #HipHopDX #USA #Brooklyn #NewYork #Court #Jury #Fraud #Conspiracy #MartinShkreli

Martin Shkreli famous for buying Wu-Tang’s album  Once Upon A Time In Shaolin. for $2 million, was found guilty on Friday (August 4th) by a Brooklyn jury. He was facing 8 counts of fraud but was found guilty of 3 according to HipHopDX news.

BROOKLYN, NY – One of Hip Hop’s most notorious proponents in recent years, “Pharma Bro” Martin Shkreli, was found guilty of fraud on Friday (August 4).

According to MSN, a Brooklyn jury deliberated for five days before finding Shkreli guilty on three counts. Shkreli was facing eight counts in total, ranging from securities fraud and conspiracy to commit securities fraud to conspiracy to commit wire fraud.

Prosecutors accused Shkreli of repeatedly misleading investors about what he was doing with their money. The Brooklyn native infamously spent $10,000 on JAY-Z tickets and $2 million on Wu-Tang’s album, Once Upon A Time In Shaolin.

In their closing arguments, Assistant U.S. Attorney Alixandra Smith said Shkreli told “lies upon lies,” while another prosecutor, Jacquelyn Kasulis, said the trial “has exposed Martin Shkreli for who he really is — a con man who stole millions.”

Shkreli’s lawyer Benjamin Brafman portrayed his client as a brilliant misfit who made his investors richer. He reportedly said Shkreli never intended to defraud anyone, and referred to him as an “honest kid.”

In 2014, Shkreli bought the rights to a life-saving drug and promptly raised the price from $13.50 to $750 per pill. After expressing their true feelings towards the defendant, several potential jurors were kept off the panel. One referred to Shkreli as a “snake” and another “the face of corporate greed.”

Shkreli was arrested in 2015 on charges he stole $11 million in stock and cash from another drug company he founded, Retrophin. He reportedly used the money to pay back the hedge fund investors, who took the witness stand on Friday to accuse Shkreli of not disclosing what was happening behind the scenes at the time.

More recently, Shkreli reportedly infuriated Lil Wayne after leaking snippets of Wayne’s long-awaited album — Tha Carter V — in May. In turn, Weezy threatened to sue Shkreli.

Although Shkreli didn’t testify in his frauds case, he took to Facebook to slam prosecutors and news outlets covering his case. “My case is a silly witch hunt perpetrated by self-serving prosecutors,” he wrote in a recent post. “Drain the swamp. Drain the sewer that is the (Department of Justice.)”

Dramatic Re-Enactment Of 10-Year-Old Damilola Taylor’s Death Has Sparked Fury Amongst Viewers.

#WeGotYourBack #WeGotItCovered #TheSun #UK #London #DamilolaTaylorMurder #ReEnactment #ViewersFurious

VIEWERS of the dramatic re-enactment of the murder of Damilola Taylor were left devastated on Monday night – after they watched his killers walk free.

Damilola, Out Loved Boy, left millions in tears as they witnessed the reconstruction of the murdered ten-year-old, who was stabbed with a broken bottle in Peckham sixteen years ago.

The youngster had only just moved over to London from Nigeria and was weeks away from celebrating his eleventh birthday.

Since the murder, Damilola’s parents fought to get justice for their ill-fated son, which culminated at an Old Bailey trial two years later.

The Beeb and production team were praised for their heartbreaking portrayal of the murder and aftermath
Damilola was found bleeding to death in a stairwell after being stabbed by teenagers

However, of the four boys who were put on trial for the killing, two of which were 16-year-old brothers, none were charged with the murder.

The ruling was made after two of the boys were found not guilty and the other two were acquitted when it was ruled that a 14-year-old girl, who was the prosecution’s key witness to the crime, was unreliable.

His killers walk free after the case is thrown out in the drama Damilola, Our Loved Boy

Following the murder trial, there were two more trials over the case when a second jury couldn’t decide to convict the group on manslaughter.

Eventually, Ricky and Danny Preddie, the two brothers in the case, were sentenced to eight years in youth custody.

They were released in 2010 and 2011 respectively.

Tonight, as the heartbreaking scenes aired, viewers swarmed to Twitter to share their devastation as the four accused walked free.

The show tracked the boys life from Nigeria through to his death in London

Damilola’s parents and brother, above, were praised for their humility during the court case and for their awareness campaigns that followed

One wrote: “I literally cannot stop crying there is literally no reason for this none what so ever

Another added: “The BBC earned my license fee with this one

While another praised his parents and said: “Damilola’s parents are soooooo strong man. They turned their tragedy into a way to help the local community.”

Another angry viewer said: “Watching this knowing that his Damilola’s killers were given manslaugter instead of murder infuriates me

The Price Of Bitcoin Has Fallen More Than 10%, After Bitfinex Hack. £49M Worth Of Bitcoin Stolen

#WeGotYourBack #WeGotItCovered #BreakingNews #BBCNews #HongKong Economy #HongKongDigitalCurrencyExchange #BitfixenHack  #Bitcoin #49M

The price of bitcoin has fallen more than 10% after the Hong Kong-based digital currency exchange Bitfinex said it had suffered a major hack.

The security breach led to the possible theft of bitcoin worth $65m (£49m).

Bitfinex told the Reuters news agency on Wednesday that nearly 120,000 bitcoin were stolen from its exchange platform.

All transactions on the virtual exchange have been suspended while the security breach is investigated.

In a statement on its website, Bitfinex said that it was “deeply concerned about the issue and we are committing every resource to try to resolve it”.

The hack is one of the biggest thefts in bitcoin’s history and is being treated as a “major deal” by many in the virtual currency community.

“Unfortunately, we continue to have vulnerabilities in the form of exchanges and wallets,” former Singapore-based bitcoin broker David Moskowitz told the BBC.

“The vulnerabilities almost always occur on the exchange or wallet side and this is an area that continues to need improvement and more secure protocols, no different than when a bank gets robbed.”

Securing bitcoin trading platforms has been a key challenge, with hacking and thefts seen as the biggest threats.

In 2014, the Tokyo-based Mt Gox trading exchange declared bankruptcy when hundreds of millions of dollars in bitcoins vanished or were stolen.

But Mr Moskowitz stressed that in spite of the latest alleged theft “the core protocol is extremely robust and has not been hacked”.

He said while there would most likely be a price correction in bitcoin, he remained confident that it would continue to be an appealing alternative asset.

BREAKING NEWS – Nice Terror Attack On The Promenade Des Anglais, Has Claimed 84 Lives And Left 18 In Critical Condition

#WeGotYourBack #WeGotItCover #BreakingNews #France #Nice #PromenadeDesAnglais #84Dead #18InCriticalCondition #PresidentFrançoisHollande #YoutubeVideo

At least 84 people have been killed and dozens injured after a truck careered along Nice’s packed waterfront, ploughing into hundreds of people.

Youtube Video: Published on Jul 14, 2016 Nice attack: French President François Hollande addresses nation on terror attack

French President Francois Hollande has said several children are among the dead after what he described as a monstrous “terrorist” act.

Video footage shows police trying to stop the lorry before it picks up speed, slamming into revellers gathered along the city’s famous waterside Promenade des Anglais for a Bastille Day fireworks display.

The driver zig-zagged along the promenade for some two kilometres (1.3 miles), mowing people down along the way, according to Nice prosecutor Jean-Michel Pretre.

Several officials say he then emerged from the vehicle and started shooting, sending hundreds of panic-stricken men, women and children running in terror.

“We almost died. It was like hallucinating… (the lorry) zig-zagged,” an eyewitness told i-Tele.

“You had no idea where it was going. My wife… a metre away … she was dead.

“The lorry ripped through everything. Poles, trees, we have never seen anything like it in our lives. Some people were hanging on the door trying to stop it.”

Nice-Matin journalist Damien Allemand, who was at the waterside, said the fireworks display had finished and the crowd had got up to leave when they heard a noise and cries.

“A fraction of a second later, an enormous white truck came along at a crazy speed, turning the wheel to mow down the maximum number of people,” he said.

“I saw bodies flying like bowling pins along its route. Heard noises, cries that I will never forget.”

Graphic footage from the scene shows an endless succession of bodies left strewn along the city’s landmark promenade in the lorry’s wake.

Screams and cries can be heard as dazed witnesses lean over the bodies, looking for survivors.

Items of clothing and shoes are scattered across the blood-stained pavement.

French officials say the driver was shot dead by police at the scene, with images showing the windscreen of the 25-tonne lorry riddled with bullet holes.

Several weapons, guns and grenades were found inside the vehicle, Christian Estrosi, president of the region, has confirmed.

There has been no claim of responsibility, however, a police source has identified the attacker as a 31-year-old Franco-Tunisian born in Tunisia.

Though unconfirmed, this tallies with the profile of a man whose identity papers were reportedly discovered inside the vehicle. A police source quoted by news agency AFP said the papers belonged to a resident of Nice.

“I express in the name of the nation, our tears, solidarity, with the victims and the families,” Mr Hollande said.

He pledged to strengthen France’s role in Syria and Iraq and extended the nation’s state of emergency – imposed after November’s attacks in Paris – for a further three months.

At least 18 people remain in a critical condition, with hospitals in the area appealing for blood.

The Hotel Negresco has been turned into a makeshift hospital Pic: @AlbanMikoczy

Laurence Marie, who works at Lenval paediatric hospital, has said “many” children are undergoing serious operations there.

Nice’s famous luxury Negresco hotel, meanwhile, has been turned into a makeshift ward, with dozens of frightened and injured victims gathered in the marble lobby.

The hashtag #RecherchesNice has been started for people still looking for loved ones.

This is the worst disaster in the history of Nice as more than 70 people have already lost their lives, killed by the driver as he fired at the crowds ahead of him,” Mr Estrosi said in a statement.

“We are terrified and we want to express our sincere condolences to the families involved.

“Today, we must act. We are currently in touch with the State authorities who are dealing with this crisis.”

The Paris prosecutor’s has office opened an investigation for “murder, attempted murder in an organised group linked to a terrorist enterprise”. The probe is being handled by France’s intelligence agency and judicial police.

The Foreign Office says it is in touch with local authorities in Nice and has advised anyone in the area to follow the instructions of French authorities.

The attack comes days after France breathed a sigh of relief after hosting the Euros 2016 without incident.

The tournament took place under heavy security following the Paris attack that left 130 dead.
