Double MOBO award-winner and the premier UK female saxophonist, YolanDa Brown, makes her Hideaway debut as she continues to seamlessly blend reggae, jazz and soul.
Fresh off her critically acclaimed Reggae Love Songs Tour, YolanDa will perform songs from her new album “Love Politics War”… sunshine music. “…Brown remains both an influential role model, and a skilful artist with a future” The Guardian. Her Debut Album, “April Showers May Flowers” was No.1 on the iTunes and Amazon Jazz Charts and she has toured with The Temptations, Diana Krall, Courtney Pine, and Billy Ocean and collaborated with artists such as Mica Paris, Matt Cardle, Reggae Legend Bob Marley’s son Julian, and as part of Jools Holland’s Rhythm & Blues Orchestra.
YolanDa loves to race cars, very fast cars, and it’s at the track that you’ll usually find her on her day off. She is also broadcaster – working on TV and Radio, a foodie and just for good measure, she can complete a Rubik’s cube in under 5 minutes… on a good day!
Brown was recently awarded an Honorary Doctorate of Arts by the University of East London and also invited to meet the Queen and the Duke of Edinburgh at Buckingham Palace.
She has played to Presidents and Heads of States and is a celebrity ambassador for the Prince’s Trust, Children and the Arts and was recently named Chair of Trustees for Youth Music.
