After Saturday night's miserable figures - an average of 5.9m tuned in, the lowest ever for an X Factor final - Simon Cowell will be breathing a sigh of relief after Sunday night showed a huge increase.
The average viewing figures were 8.4m, easily the highest figure of the series, with audience peaking at 9.7m when Louisa Johnson was announced as the winner. Viewers were also keen on tuning in for One Direction (9.1m) and Adele (9.2m). Throughout the series The X Factor has struggled to get above 7m viewers, with many suggesting that the talent show's days were numbered.

But have ITV bosses seen enough life in the old dog to keep it going - especially with rival singing show The Voice coming to the channel?

It's every X Factor geek's favourite bit of the final - the voting stats! ITV have just released the breakdown of the phone vote, week by week, and apart from a couple of small blips, she was the viewers' favourite from the beginning.
For the first three live shows, Louisa came top. In week four, the nation suddenly fell for Reggie 'N' Bollie and they beat Louisa by 0.1 per cent (with this year's viewing figures, that's probably just someone's dog treading on their phone).
In week five, both Reggie 'N' Bollie and Ché Chesterman beat her - but, again, by the tiniest of margins (just 1.1 per cent in it!), and from week six onwards she was back on top..
