Young Dolph, a 36-year-old rapper, was fatally shot.
According to authorities, the artist, whose full name is Adolph Robert Thornton Jr, was shot and killed today while buying cookies in his hometown of Memphis, Tennessee.
Makeda’s Butter Cookies was the location of the shooting.
Young Dolph had stepped into the bakery to buy cookies when someone drove up and shot him, according to owner Maurice Hill.
According to a source, shots were fired through the car’s front window, striking the rapper.
According to another source, an anonymous gunman stormed the store and fired two rounds, one of which killed Young Dolph.
The details behind the shooting have yet to be revealed, although it is believed that Young Dolph was a frequent visitor to the establishment.
So far, no information on the shooter has been provided, and it’s unclear whether he or she is in arrest or on the run.
The shop’s window was reportedly shattered in the incident.
After releasing his debut album King of Memphis in 2016, Young Dolph was well-known in the Memphis neighbourhood.
According to TMZ, a large police presence was deployed at the scene of the incident.
A video from the scene was posted on the web, showing police cars stationed outside the store as authorities investigated what transpired.
Cops in bulletproof vests were spotted tapering off the area around the store, and witnesses indicate that individuals have been arriving and crying on the ground.
Dolph has been a target in the past.
He was shot multiple times outside a shoe store in Hollywood in 2017.
After being hit in the arms and buttocks, he needed surgery.
His SUV had been shot at more than 100 times earlier that year in Charlotte, North Carolina.
Young Dolph is survived by a son and a daughter. He is best known for his hits Major and On the River.
The rapper has seven studio albums to his credit.
