The Second Season trailer for “Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power” Depicts Sauron’s Nefarious rise to Power

It’s about time we make our way back to Middle-earth.

Prime Video unveiled the highly-anticipated trailer for the second season of the ‘Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power’ series on Tuesday. The trailer offers a captivating glimpse into the realm’s preparations to confront the formidable Dark Lord Sauron, whose return was documented in the previous season.

“A malevolent force, ancient and formidable, has resurfaced,” declares Prince Durin IV of the dwarves (Owain Arthur) at the beginning of the trailer.

Sauron (Charlie Vickers) has surprised fans with a fresh appearance, adopting the guise of an Elf complete with bleach-blonde hair and elven ears. He makes only a few appearances in the trailer, but his influence is evident as Galadriel (Morfydd Clark), Isildur (Maxim Baldry), Arondir (Ismael Cruz Córdova), and Elrond (Robert Aramayo) are depicted battling to safeguard Middle-earth.

The trailer beautifully captures intense battles, massive Orc armies, mysterious sea creatures, a majestic Great Eagle, three powerful Rings, and the dark and foreboding land of Mordor, all accompanied by the captivating score composed by Bear McCreary.

The Stranger (Daniel Weyman) – whose true identity remains a mystery but has sparked speculation of being a formidable wizard – is also briefly depicted forcefully slamming a staff into the ground.

“One of the intriguing aspects of this year is witnessing Sauron taking charge and orchestrating events,” Vickers shared in a Season 2 behind-the-scenes featurette released on Tuesday. We’ll have the opportunity to witness everything as it happens.

Season 2 continues with the reappearance of the clever Dark Lord, who is determined to regain his power and oversee the creation of the Rings of Power. These rings will enable him to control all the inhabitants of Middle-earth, as stated in an official synopsis.
