The pool at Lough Castle Eske
Splendid Lough Eske Castle (dialling from the UK: 00 353 749 725100/solishotels.com/ lougheskecastle) is the only five-star hotel in Donegal, north west Ireland, and has an inspiring woodland setting on Lough Eske with a backdrop of the Blue Stack Mountains. Spa Solis offers two new treatment lines from high-end Parisian brands Anne Semonin and Yon-Ka.

DOWN ON THE FARM
You can’t go wrong in the Cotswolds when it comes to incredible scenery so a stay at Dormy House (01386 852711/dormyhouse.co.uk) a 17th-century farmhouse which has been turned into a chic boutique hotel.
Resembling the most perfect dolls’ house, all rooms are different and beautifully decorated. Some have roll-top baths while others are white-painted fairytale affairs in the eves. The one thing in common is that they’re all sensational.
Newly launched treatments at the delectable House Spa include the Diamond Energy facial with Damask rose extracts from Morocco, thanks to Spanish brand Natura Bissé, favoured by celebrities such as Beyoncé and Elle Macpherson.
Extensive facilities include an exquisite indoor candlelit infinity pool, thermal suite, Rasul mud room, Veuve Clicquot Champagne Nail Parlour, gym, personal training studio, lounge and hydro pool on the terrace. And nearby is the honey-hued Cotswold village of Broadway.
One-night Timeless Spa Break from £212.50pp (two sharing), B&B, Champagne lunch in the Greenhouse and dinner in the Potting Shed, a 60-minute treatment and full use of the facilities.
You can almost see into the Queen’s Sandringham Estate from the orchards and garden at Congham Hall Hotel in Norfolk (01485 600250/ conghamhallhotel.co.uk), a 26-room boutique hotel in a Georgian pile nestling amongst parkland.
In celebration of the Year Of The English Garden 2016, the hotel’s serene Secret Garden Spa has launched a treatment drawing on the extensive herb garden which some rooms overlook.
Using UK specialist brand Elemental Herbology, the Herb Garden Signature Treatment, a 75-minute face, back and scalp massage (£75) features handpicked rosemary, mint and lavender.
Facilities include an indoor swimming pool and outside hot tub. You’ll dine on some of the hotel’s own home grown veg such as chard, rocket and baby carrots in the stylish restaurant.

The views at Lifehouse Spa & Hotel
SPIRIT OF LIFE
The only way is Essex so head straight to the English Heritage-listed Thorpe Hall Gardens, the contemporary 89-room Lifehouse Spa & Hotel (01255 860050/ lifehouse.co.uk).
Tucked into a coastal corner near the prim town of Frinton-on-Sea, Thorpe Hall has a large, open deck which is just the place for sitting out overlooking the gardens in the summer months, a large indoor pool and a light-filled restaurant with full length windows.
Clarins and Decleor products feature here. Alternative sessions include mindfulness and wellbeing sessions with a resident healer, previously at Thai spa Chiva-Som.
Practitioners are trained in treatments for guests with, or recovering from, cancer. The Energy Studio offers various classes and there’s a sauna, steam and salt inhalation room.

It’s straight to the source in Bath at the Gainsborough Bath Spa (01225 358888/ thegainsboroughbathspa.co.uk) a new, handsome 99-room Georgian hotel opposite the Thermae Bath Spa, Britain’s only natural thermal spa offering baths just as the Romans used.
The Gainsborough is the country’s only hotel with private thermal waters (packed full of natural minerals at temperatures up to 40C) and offers an array of relaxing treatments within its glorious marbled Roman Spa.
There is also a sauna, a eucalyptus steam room and an ice fountain so you can alternate between the various experiences. Take to the waters for the day or you can indulge for a longer stay in beautiful classical-contemporary rooms overlooking the outdoor pools of the Thermae Bath Spa.
