THEY'RE known for their on stage banter, but Simon Cowell could have taken things a step too far when he referenced David Walliams' divorce in front of a live Britain's Got Talent audience.

David and his ex-wife wife Lara Stone split up last year after five years of marriage.
The Little Britain comedian has kept his private life on the down low since details of the"quickie" divorce were announced back in September, so it's no real surprise that David was allegedly less than impressed when Simon brought up the split in front of a live audience.

During a recent batch of BGT auditions, Simon asked one of the contestants: "Why aren't you married?"
The 44-year-old then hit back, asking Simon why he hadn't tied the knot with girlfriend Lauren Silverman.

“David was pretty shocked that his marriage was mentioned,” an audience member has since told the publication. “You could tell Simon knew straight away that he had put his foot in it.
“David was a little caught out by the comment. While they were waiting for the next act to come out, he went to talk to Simon. He sat on the desk next to him and they had a few words with each other and seemed to sort it out.”
The latest BGT drama comes after Simon had to leave the panel after Amanda Holden - who pressed her golden buzzer on day ONE of auditions - threw three glasses of water over him.
