A man was arrested at the Breeders’ Cup for drunkenly mounting a horse and attempting to race it according to local reports in Kentucky, USA. 24 year old Michael Wells-Rody, had snuck into a restricted area where he managed to obtain a horse and was making his way to the track entrance, before he was detained.
He was apparently under the influence of alcohol and was “loud and disorderly” when requested to dismount the horse
The $6m Breeders’ Cup Classic was won by Accelerate at Churchill Downs.
Enable, ridden by Frankie Dettori, won the Breeders’ Cup turf race to become the first horse to win both a Breeders’ Cup fixture and the Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe.
The Breeders’ Cup is one of the biggest meetings on the American racing calendar.
According to a report in the Kentucky Herald Leader, Wells-Rody has been charged with alcohol intoxication in a public place and disorderly conduct, and is scheduled to appear in court.
