In 2010, Zolot released her first mixtape, Kittys x Choppas, as well as her first music video for the single Bumpin Bumpin. In May 2011, she released a music video for her single Gucci Gucci, which generated nearly three million views on YouTube in the first three weeks.

The popularity of her Gucci Gucci video caught the attention of several record labels, and Zolot quickly signed a contract with Columbia Records. In September 2011, Zolot was nominated for the MTV Video Music Award for Best New Artist, and hosted the Red Carpet event before the 2011 MTV Video Music Awards.

DJ Two Stacks produced the song, and Adeptus added the high hats. It includes a sample from another Kreayshawn song called “Bumpin’ Bumpin.” “Gucci Gucci” peaked at number 57 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart in the United States. The song was also a hit in Belgium and charted on the hip-hop charts in the UK.

In the song, she expresses her disdain for designer labels like Gucci, Louis Vuitton, Fendi, and Prada.

The song gained popularity after being uploaded to her YouTube channel on May 16, 2011. It received nearly 3 million views in just over two weeks.

The success of the song landed her a record deal with Columbia Records.

The song was co-written by Kreayshawn and hip-hop rapper and ghostwriter Anthony “Speak!” Negrete. Negrete stated in an August 2011 interview with Rebecca Haithcoat of LA Weekly that he had never been paid royalties for his contributions. A remix featuring British rapper Giggs was released. The song was covered by British singer Neon Hitch.

The song received positive feedback. “The song basically attacks a central tenet of hip-hop: many rappers embrace labelism as part of their celebration of upward mobility as well as a postmodern sentiment that you are the brands you wear,” Touré said of the song. He also claimed that the song contained “childishly simple rhyme patterns,” such as “I look like Madonna, but I floss like Ivana.” MTV’s James Montgomery ranked “Gucci Gucci” as the 23rd best song of 2011. Lil Wayne, a hip-hop rapper, remixed the song for his mixtape Sorry 4 the Wait. The song is also included in Pitchfork’s The Top 100 Tracks of 2011, as well as numerous other publications.

During the week of July 30, 2011, the song debuted at number 83 on the Billboard Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart.

It also charted at 82 on the Billboard Hot 100 for the week ending August 13, 2011.

The song peaked at 57 on the Billboard Hot 100.

The single was certified gold by the RIAA in October 2012, after selling 500,000 copies in the United States.
