After Kenyan-American actress Lupita Nyong’o confirmed that she had split from American TV presenter Selema Masekela, her supporters rallied around her.
Nyong’o shared “a personal truth” on Instagram after claiming she wanted to speak up.
Without identifying anybody, she stated, “I find myself in a season of heartbreak because of a love that was suddenly and devastatingly extinguished by deception.”
Masekela has been silent and has disabled his Instagram commenting.
The connection between Nyong’o and Masekela became known in December of last year. Nyong’o is an A-list Hollywood actress who made history in 2014 by being the first Kenyan to win an Oscar and the second African to do so after South African actress Charlize Theron.
“We just click!” The video establishing their relationship had captions written by Nyong’o, who has now removed them.
In a different post, Selema, the son of South African jazz great Hugh Masekela, raved over Nyong’o as well.
“Our hearts are in harmony. Lupita Nyongo has my whole and genuine adoration, he declared.
Nyong’o said in her break-up article that her love was “extinguished by deception” and that she wanted to “publicly dissociate myself from someone I can no longer trust.”
Many of the couple’s fans were shocked to learn of their breakup because they saw the couple’s revelation of their love as a touching occasion that occurred after Masekela had sought advise from his followers on how to approach the Black Panther actor.
Let’s imagine, just hypothetically, that you are in Lupita Nyong’o’s seat on a flight. What would be your first sentence? In 2016, Masekela published on X.
Thousands of comments have been submitted in support of Nyong’o by her admirers and some of her famous colleagues. The actress has amassed a sizable fan following over the years because to her mesmerizing performances in blockbuster films like Black Panther and Us.
“With love and sisterhood, we raise you up. Your surroundings are awash in wonders. Let us count them in faith and confidence,” said Academy Award-winning director Ava DuVernay.
In addition, Nyong’o has received praise from many of her admirers for having the “bravery” to publicly discuss a private and delicate matter.
Nyong’o said that she was hopeful that “knowledge of my experience might be useful to someone else out there experiencing the grip of heartbreak who is poised to try and escape from the pain and miss out on the wisdom that comes from it” .
There haven’t been many remarks in Masekela’s favor.
